This day traditionally marks the first day of a forty day lent, so today we cook and eat seafood and for forty days we don't eat meat or dairy products. Today we go out to celebrate "koulouma", we take our food and go out to have a picnic of sorts and we fly kites. I'm not sure what the kite flying symbolizes but it's so much fun, to see the sky filled with flying kites! Unfortunately as was predicted today it's been raining all morning, I don't think there will be anybody braving the rain to go out and fly their kite, that's such a pity.
And since I won't be seeing any kites in the sky here's a collection of some from the european street team members, aren't they lovely?
